Busy, busy, busy…
Man, what a week. It ended up with both my wife and I out of commission with some kind of allergy nonsense, after leaving a state where it’s still hitting 90 degrees, for a state where fall is in full effect and it’s getting into the 50s at night.
I’m needing to get to a meeting soon, tomorrow at latest, to see where I stand with the program. I did a really good job with the food part of the program during the week, save for one meal at Chammp’s. Props to them for posting their nutritional information, but yeesh, not a whole lot of healthy choices.
Workouts were kind of sporadic, but I managed to get something in on a few days. These places rock, BTW.

Tri-ple di-gits (clap, clap, clap-clap-clap)…
…at least unofficially. My road trip kept me from my regular meeting this week, but I stepped on the scale at the gym, and it had me at a trim 407.6 pounds. Which is 107.6 under where I started this little trip. We’ll make it official on Saturday, hopefully.
Other milestones, at this big one:
My knees feel tons better.
I can do just fine on eight hours of sleep.
I don’t drive all over, looking for the “close” parking space. The additional 100 or so feet don’t really bother me.
Standing for a long period of time isn’t as brutal as it once was (Exception: this Wednesday, but I think it was the shoes. Really).
The idea of a flight of stairs, or three, doesn’t bother me.
It’s been a good trip so far. Stay with me until 200, won’t you?

Sorry it’s ben a couple of days. I’ve been here in Minnesota, checking out The Twins and an Everlast concert (killer new album, BTW). Two tough environments, and I’ve been able to stay on program, even mixing in a light beer at the concert.
. We’ll see how good I’ve been when I get back in town Thursday.

I created an iMix on iTunes of songs i work out to. Go to iTunes and search for “s2bs Sooner” under iMixes (I’d love to post a more direct link, but WP isn’t keen on links to iTunes, for some reason). A word of warning: Some songs, and even song titles, are NSFW and NSFKids. Hope you find something you like!
The Kirk shuffle
You’ve seen Star Trek III. You may not want to admit it, but you have.
Anyway, after Kirk, Scotty and Chekov set the Enterprise up to self destruct (it’s been almost 25 years. You don’t need a spoiler alert tag), Kirk is seen “hustling” to get off the ship. He’s sort of running, sort of jogging. If you don’t remember, here it is, about 1:15 or so in.
Got the idea? Good, I’ll come back to it.
For the past year or so, I don’t know if I could have mustered even this weak effort to escape certain peril. Well, tonight, I managed to hit a sustained jog for a while, out of necessity.
I covered a high school game tonight (Edmond vs. Del City, when it gets posted) that ended on a last-second touchdown pass. For those of you sports writers, or other deadline demons, you know that the excitement always comes about one hour, or less, before deadline. For me, it was much less. I had about 45 minutes to get quotes, write a story and do stats. The only way to do it was to run, baby run.
This time last year, I don’t think I could have. Or, at least, I’d be dead to the world for about 15 minutes after so doing. Tonight, I ran from the press box, got the interview and ran back.
Thank God Kirk made the shuffle cool (Shut up! He did!), because that’s what my lumbering resembled by the time I was getting back up the stairs.
Still, they don’t give style points, just dollars, at deadline. Made it with two minutes to spare.

Sorry for missing…
…a day or two this week. It’s been pretty hectic, plus I’m going out of town early next week, so I’m trying to get ready for that. I may miss another day or two in the near future, but I’m not bailing on the blog or the quest, so don’t worry.
Kind of a weird week. Last week, when I knew I’d had a rough day of food choices, the scale “rewarded” me with a six-pound loss. This week, after what I truly believed to be a week of really wise food and lifestyle choices, I’d only dropped 2/10 of a pound. Maybe last week was just catching up to me, I’m not sure. This wouldn’t bother me so much, except that I expected to hit the 100 pounds gone mark on this trip to the scales, and I’m still just a bit more than a pound shy of that.
And, I’ve also learned that sometimes the scales are just like that, sometimes. It could be any combination of things that, at that particular time on that day, that swing the scale a pound or two one way or another. I’ll hit that century mark, sooner, rather than later.

Weight Watchers, like a video game? I’d never looked at it like that, since my gaming has been limited almost exclusively to NCAA Football, Madden, and NHL Hockey. However, this article makes a comparison that actually makes some sense.
A week in review
This week has been the busiest I’ve had since my lifestyle changes began, and I think it showed that these changes are going to work.
I managed to stay well within my Weight Watchers points ranges, even when eating on the run, as I had to do often. I even managed two days of pizza, which traditionally has been one of the weakest of my weak spots.
I also managed to squeeze in five workouts. Swimming, mostly, since my muscles really weren’t up to weightlifting. Still, much better than nothing.
Finally, I felt physically able to some demanding physical work. I think I walked around the Ford Center about 20 times this week, along with a ton of standing and one day of hauling boxes and pallets. Very worth it to be part of a really historic event in Oklahoma City.
Oh, and OU’s thumping of Washington was a nice way to cap a good, but challenging, week.

Sold out
The Select-a-Seat program is over, and my feet are appreciative.
However, as mentioned before, I don’t think I’m that much worse for the wear than all of the other volunteers and employees. I even found the strength to go cover a high-school football game tonight.
One more day of clean up on Monday, and then back to normal, for me, at least.
I’ll post tomorrow, to make up for some of the short, or missing posts, this week. I’m sure my ones of fans will be appreciative.
